If you want to update a record that has not come up in the inspections due tab (for example, an item which you know has been damaged but is not due for an inspection), the easiest way to do this is by using the search function.

How to search in Papertrail

Select the magnifying glass in the top right corner.

As you start typing, the search will auto-complete to help you find the record you are looking for. The search will look for:

  • The record name
  • Serial number
  • Title of a folder
  • Tags
  • Manufacturer
  • Model¬†
  • Supplier
  • Identifier

You can use this functionality to find individual records or folders with multiple records.

How to update a records

Once you have found the record you are looking for, you can update it by clicking into the record and clicking on "ADD AN INSPECTION" to add comments:

Alternatively, if you don't want the date of the next inspection to change, you can choose to add a note instead.

If you want to update multiple records at the same time, you can do this by simply selecting the records you want to update using the check boxes on the left hand side, and click on "ADD AN INSPECTION" or "ADD A NOTE".

From there, you can update multiple records as usual.
