If you want to find a particular record in your Papertrail account, the easiest way to do this is by using the search function.

Web application

The search bar can be found in the top right corner of the web application and is displayed with the magnifying glass icon. When searching for a record, it will search the entirety of the account, regardless of which folder you are currently in.

Click into the search bar and start typing (the search function needs at least 3 characters to start searching the account).

You can search for entries into the following fields:

  • Record name

  • Serial number

  • Identifier

  • Tag

  • Record comments

  • Folder name

Please note - the search function is not case-sensitive but it is sensitive to spaces or symbols such as - / ' etc. Be aware when searching for serial numbers in particular.

The results that match your search information will be displayed in a list below the search bar. You can click on a folder, record or tag directly from this list, or press ENTER to display all the results.

Mobile application

In the mobile app, click on the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner and type into the search bar as detailed above. The results will automatically show by group (folders, tags, records etc.). Scroll down to find the record(s) you are looking for.

You can also scan using RFID or a barcode or to search for a records.

To exit the search function, click on Close and you will be taken back to the last viewed page.
