The use of a barcode enables you to search for and identify a record or group of records with ease. The easiest way to do this is with the built-in barcode scanner in the Papertrail mobile app. You can also connect a scanning device to your computer and use the web app too.

Step by Step

In the mobile app, click on the magnifying glass icon in the top right hand corner of the screen.

Click on the barcode icon in the right hand corner of the screen.

The scanner will automatically open on your device. You can choose between single scan, to scan one barcode, or multi-scan, for multiple barcodes.

Hold your mobile device camera over the the barcode so it is contained within the rectangular outline. If you are using the single scan option, it will bring up the results list straight away.

On multi-scan, you will be notified if a record has or has not been found in Papertrail at the bottom of the screen.

This will help you identify if all of the barcodes you have scanned have been assigned to your Papertrail records.

Finish scanning the barcodes and click Finish. Any records with the barcode numbers associated will be shown. You can now add an inspection or edit the record(s).

Please note - If you are having problems scanning the barcode, make sure the device camera lens is clear and there is sufficient background light.
