If you want to find a particular record in your Papertrail account, the easiest way to do this is by using the search function.
The search bar can be found in the top right corner of the page, with the magnifying glass icon. It will search your entire account, regardless of which folder you are currently looking at.
Click into the search bar and start typing (the search function needs at least 3 letters or numbers to start searching). You can search for words or numbers in:
- Record name
- Serial number
- Record comments
- Folder name
N.B. the search function is not case-sensitive but it is sensitive to spaces or symbols like - / ' etc. Be aware when searching for serial numbers in particular.
The results that match your search information will be displayed in a list below the search bar. You can click on a folder, record or tag directly from this list, or press ENTER to display all the results.
In the mobile app, click on the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner and type into the search bar as above. The results will automatically show by group (folders, tags, records etc.). Scroll down the screen to find the record(s) you are looking for.
You can also search for a barcode by clicking the barcode icon in the top right corner of the screen and scanning a barcode.
To exit the search function, click on Close (top left of screen) and you will be taken back to the last viewed page.
