If you want to find a particular record across all your Papertrail accounts, the easiest way to do this is by using the universal search function.

The search bar can be found in the top right corner of the web application and is displayed with the magnifying glass icon. When searching for a record, it will search the entirety of your accounts.

A pop up will appear, click into the search bar and start typing (the search function needs at least 3 characters to start searching your accounts).

(Your last 5 successful searches will also be saved in 'recent searches' which you can see when you first open the universal search pop up - you can click on those to reload the results from those searches.)

You can search for entries into the following fields:

Please note - the search function is not case-sensitive but it is sensitive to spaces or symbols such as - / ' etc. Be aware when searching for serial numbers in particular.

The results that match your search information will be displayed in a list below the search bar with details of which account they belong to. The lists are separated into 4 tabs, Records, Folders, Tags & Tasks. A blue dot above the tab name indicates there are results.

You can click on a result directly from this list to be redirected to the account etc where the result is and directly to the record.

You can also click 'view all results' when the 'record' tab is selected. This will take you to a full page list view of the record results for your search.

To exit the search function from the pop up, click on Close and you will be taken back to your current page. To exit the full results page simply click 'Back' at the top left of the page.

N.B. This feature is not currently available on our mobile app.
