Papertrail now has the function to save a digital signature against your user profile. This can be used on certificates, in place of printing off the certificate on paper and signing it.

To add a signature to your user profile, first double check that you are logged in as the correct person, especially on shared devices. Click on your avatar circle in the top right corner and choose the first option Profile from the menu.

On the right hand side of the screen, you have the option to change your profile image, and underneath to Add signature image.

Click on this button and choose a file from your computer, then press Save.

We recommend making sure your signature image has a blank white background, as any shadows caused by taking a photo will also show up on a certificate (please note that for the purpose of showing the image edge, a white background will appear slightly grey in your profile settings only). A good way to do this is to draw a signature on a phone or tablet screen using a notes app and save or export the file as a jpeg.

If you want to update your signature in future you can do so by following the same steps and clicking the buttons to change or remove the image.

Profile settings can only be accessed in the web app at the moment, although once a signature is saved you will be able to generate certificates with it from the mobile app.

If you are interested in having a custom certificate with the ability to include signatures on it for your account, please get in contact with us on the details below.
